Automotive EMC
This video course provides an in-depth overview of the requirements of UN ECE 10, EN 50498, ISO 16750-2, and other related standards, that apply to electronic sub-assemblies installed inside vehicles. The course contains 11 videos explaining the certification route of an immunity function electronic sub-assembly from start to finish. This course covers various topics including CISPR 25 vehicular radiated and conducted emissions testing, ISO 11452-2 vehicular radiated immunity testing, ISO 11452-4 vehicular conducted immunity testing, ISO 7637-2 transient voltages and emissions, and ISO 10605 automotive electrostatic discharge (ESD). Each topic is explained in detailed by providing references to the relevant standards. The test setups are illustrated with examples. The use of typical EMC debugging tools is also demonstrated for DIY investigation. This course will allow you to deeply understand the EMC requirements for electronic equipment in the automotive environment and will guide you to perform the preliminary EMC testing of your product.
Detailed description of the 'Automotive EMC' video course
UN ECE R10 is an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standard for vehicles that applies globally, according to E-marked regions (58 at the time of publishing). The compatibility with UN 10 involves transient voltage testing to ISO 7637-2 standards that involves the much feared load dump test (pulse 2b), radiated immunity testing to ISO 11452-2 standard, bulk current injection testing (conducted immunity) to ISO 11452-4, as well as the conducted emissions testing to CISPR-16 and radiated emissions testing to CISPR-25 standards respectively. In the US, FCC regulation 47 part 15 will apply in addition to that, and in the EU, if the equipment contains radio transmitters, the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) will also apply. This video course covers all the basics that you should know to successfully pass the automotive EMC testing to UN ECE Regulation 10 and exemplifies it with practical testing inside a professionally certified lab.
